Altaylı: Will Devlet Bahçeli approve naming a street after Sheikh Said?

News that the trustee administration in Diyarbakır plans to name a street after Sheikh Said has resonated in political circles.

WHAT IF 'DEM' HAD DONE IT?

Journalist Fatih Altaylı criticized the trustee administration's attempt to name a street after Sheikh Said in Diyarbakır, stating, "They want to give this rebel's name to a street in Diyarbakır. And I am being insulted for opposing it. Let me be very clear. If this request to name a street had come from an elected mayor of the HDP, or the DEM as it is now called, rather than a governor, it would have served as grounds for dismissal and the appointment of a trustee."

Arguing that the name Sheikh Said is a sign of a secret agreement ahead of the local elections, Altaylı said, "For the AK Party, this situation is neither surprising nor unexpected. What I am curious about is Devlet Bahçeli's perspective on this idea. I wonder how Mr. Devlet evaluates naming a street after Sheikh Said? Because if this is considered normal, it may be inevitable that the next step will be an Öcalan Boulevard stretching across the eastern provinces."
