19-point commitment for candidates from YENİ Party: Ban on nepotism and declaration of assets

The "Intra-Party Election Candidate Commitment," a 19-point document prepared by the YENİ Party General Secretariat, has been presented to provincial and district chairmanship candidates for their signature. The commitment details the ethical, financial, and organizational rules that candidates are expected to follow during the intra-party election process.

The document stipulates that candidates must not use public or municipal resources, or powers derived from their duties or positions, in favor of their own candidacy or to the detriment of rival candidates. Adherence to the transparency principles set by the party regarding donations, expenditures, and financial resources during the campaign period is also included in the scope of the commitment.

EMPHASIS ON FAVORITISM AND CONFLICT OF INTEREST

The commitment also includes provisions against nepotism. Accordingly, it is stipulated that party duties must not be used to provide privileges or economic benefits for personal, family, or close circles; and that merit, equality, and transparent criteria must be the basis for appointments and resource distribution.

Candidates are also required to disclose existing or potential conflicts of interest related to their duties and to make timely and complete declarations of their assets and economic relationships. The refusal of benefits such as gifts, money, discounts, hospitality, or travel that could influence decisions has also been included in the document.

In the articles regarding the post-election process, it is stated that elected chairpersons must work with the entire organization, not just those who supported them. It is committed that members who supported other candidates will not be excluded and that election results will not be used to purge any segment within the party.

When forming management lists, the aim is to observe criteria such as gender, generation, profession, social diversity, and geographical balance, in addition to merit. The active participation of women and youth in decision-making processes is also listed among the conditions of the commitment.
