The result changed in the renewed election held for the presidency of the Osmaniye Provincial General Assembly.

Independent candidate Ahmet Cavit, who resigned from the AKP, was elected assembly president after receiving 13 votes.

In the election held at the Provincial General Assembly on April 1, 2026, People's Alliance candidate Mehmet Ali Gizlice had won the presidency with 13 votes.

CHP council member Mehmet Amanvermez had filed a lawsuit alleging that the rules of secrecy were violated during the election.

Evaluating the case, the court decided to stay the execution. Following this decision, the Osmaniye Provincial General Assembly went to the polls again for the presidential election within the legal timeframe.

In the renewed election, Ahmet Cavit received 13 votes, while People's Alliance candidate Mehmet Ali Gizlice remained at 10 votes.

Two votes were declared invalid in the balloting.

Following the results, Ahmet Cavit was elected to the position of President of the Osmaniye Provincial General Assembly.
