Akşener's local election message: 'Instead of helping others win...'

İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener spoke at her party's parliamentary group meeting. Criticizing the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) for failing to offer a prayer for the founder of our Republic, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, during the November 10 Friday sermon, Akşener also addressed the Constitutional Court (AYM) crisis. Regarding the local elections, Akşener stated, "Instead of helping others win, we will only ensure our nation wins."

İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener spoke at her party's group meeting in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). Before beginning her speech, Meral Akşener announced three district mayoral candidates in Istanbul. The İYİ Party announced that it would nominate İsmail Yaşar in Arnavutköy, Ramazan Uğral in Maltepe, and Pelin Sellitepe Turan in Güngören.

Meral Akşener began her remarks by celebrating the 40th anniversary of the independence of Northern Cyprus. Commemorating Atatürk once again on the anniversary of his passing, Meral Akşener criticized the Presidency of Religious Affairs, saying, "There were also those who were mindless enough to begrudge him a prayer of mercy. The Diyanet, which owes its existence to Atatürk, begrudged him even a Fatiha. Shame on them."

CRITICISM OF THE COURT OF CASSATION

Describing the Court of Cassation's refusal to recognize the Constitutional Court's (AYM) ruling on rights violations regarding Can Atalay, who is being held in prison, and its subsequent press statement as a 'state crisis,' Meral Akşener recalled AKP President Erdoğan's words: "I do not recognize the AYM ruling, nor do I respect it."

'CONSTITUTIONAL STATE CRISIS'

Stating that the government is creating a de facto situation and trying to legalize it by finding a pretext, Meral Akşener said, "No one can exercise state authority that does not derive its source from the constitution. The unlawful de facto situation created by the 3rd Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation has caused a constitutional state crisis."

Reminding that the rulings of the AYM are final and binding, the İYİ Party leader also stated that the censorship law was not annulled by the AYM and that they criticize this decision.

"THE GOVERNMENT'S EXPECTATION FOR HOT MONEY IS NOT BEING MET"

Meral Akşener stated that despite the government's search for hot money, this expectation is not being met because no one trusts them.

MESSAGE ON CANDIDATES IN 81 PROVINCES

Reiterating their decision to field candidates in all 81 provinces for the local elections, Meral Akşener said, "We will manage all the cities we win with an understanding of participatory democracy, and we will implement a multi-stakeholder approach. We will ensure that women are better represented in municipal councils."

Continuing to deliver messages regarding the local elections, Meral Akşener concluded her remarks as follows:

"Instead of helping others win, we will only ensure our nation wins. Instead of petty squabbles, we will offer our nation a new path. As the İYİ Party, we want to lay the foundation for a new, nation-focused politics. We want the future of our country to be determined not by deals behind closed doors, but transparently with the participation of the public. We conduct our politics not with those who cannot escape their echo chambers or those who try to derive legitimacy through us, but with patriots committed to the truth."
