Arrest request for Ekrem İmamoğlu's lawyer Mehmet Pehlivan!
Mehmet Pehlivan, the lawyer for Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is currently detained at Silivri Prison, has been summoned to testify by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
Mehmet Pehlivan, the lawyer for Ekrem İmamoğlu—the removed President of the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye and Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, who is also the CHP's presidential candidate and is currently detained at Silivri Prison—has been summoned to the prosecutor's office to provide a statement.
The prosecutor's office has requested Pehlivan's arrest.
HE HAD BEEN DETAINED
Lawyer Mehmet Pehlivan, who was detained on the evening of March 27 as part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, had been released by the court with judicial control conditions following his statement at the prosecutor's office.
In his statement, Pehlivan noted that the ongoing investigation was linked to his past legal work, stating the following:
“The investigation being conducted was opened because I carried out legal activities in previous investigations. The legal representation in these files is not just a technical legal struggle, but a struggle against this unlawful judicial practice. Investigations are being carried out based on erroneous and unrealistic reports and evidence, and again on witness statements based on hearsay. Today's investigation is also due to this report, which was erroneously prepared in the original investigation where the report was issued. I do not accept the accusations found to be erroneous.”
