A critical day for the CHP: Important messages from İmamoğlu at the convention!

The CHP's 38th Ordinary Convention has begun.

1,367 convention delegates from 81 provinces will elect the new chairman and new party management in the 100th year of the Republic and the party. The election for the chairman will be held on the first day of the convention, and the members of the Party Assembly and the High Disciplinary Board will be determined on the second day.

Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was elected Chairman of the Council by majority vote, made statements.

İmamoğlu's statements are as follows:

"My esteemed chairman, my previous chairmen, very valuable convention delegates, my deputies, my provincial, district, and town heads. My heads of women's and youth branches, my heads of different branches, my provincial and district mayors, valuable guests, dear fellow travelers, valuable members of our press, I greet you all with respect.

I wish for the 38th Ordinary Convention of our party to bring auspicious results for our country, our nation, and our democracy. I offer my love and respect to my esteemed chairman and all convention members who proposed and elected me as the convention chairman.

Welcome to Ankara, the legacy of our Ata, to all my brothers and sisters who honored our hall by being elected from all four corners of the country. I know that each of you is present in the 38th convention hall with your belief in the values of our party. The CHP is a party of congresses and conventions. Because our 100-year-old republic has risen on congresses, conventions, and parliaments. This is an important requirement of the respect felt for national sovereignty.

Of course, our first duty is to express the respect and gratitude we feel for everyone who has brought the CHP to these days. Knowing that I am also mediating your most sincere feelings, I commemorate our great leader, our founder, our first chairman, dear Atatürk, with mercy, respect, and gratitude.

I respectfully commemorate our chairmen, Mr. İsmet İnönü, Mr. Bülent Ecevit, and Mr. Deniz Baykal. I also greet our valuable chairmen who provided us with leadership in various periods, Mr. Murat Karayalçın, Mr. Hikmet Çetin, and Mr. Altan Öymen, with love and respect.

I offer my respects and love to our esteemed chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who has put great effort into our party and our cause since May 2010. I commemorate with respect and love our party members who have taken on duties at every level for our Republic and our party and whom we have lost. Again, I offer my respects to all our organization workers who have taken responsibility in our party's organizations, and I convey our love to them.

This convention is a historic convention, because this convention is a convention where not only the CHP but the Turkish opposition will be shaped. This convention will give hope to everyone and will give great strength and morale to the social opposition.

We have a historic responsibility to our people. It is necessary to act responsibly here and to look to the future with confidence. As soon as our convention ends, we will stand shoulder to shoulder for the local elections. We will meet with our people in every field. You will see, we will win the local elections all together. We will spread the populist, fair local government success we have demonstrated in the last five years to the country. As long as we listen to the voice of the people."
