During the 2027 budget negotiations in the TBMM Planning and Budget Committee, developments in capital markets and the investigation known in the public eye as the "fund crisis" were brought to the agenda.
The debate in the committee occurred after AKP Denizli Deputy Nilgün Ök stated that more than 220 people had been detained and 100 people had been arrested within the scope of the investigation. YENİ Party Istanbul Deputy Özgür Karabat then took the floor and brought up allegations regarding former Minister of Family and Social Policies Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya.
Arguing that it must be clearly revealed who the investigation covers, Karabat said, "Who did you arrest? What happened to the Minister? You took an 85-year-old mayor's father from his home in the morning. It is a shame."
Touching upon the allegations that 60 deputies were linked to the developments in capital markets, Karabat stated that these allegations must be clarified. Karabat said, "If it is gossip, then you will stop it. You will publish the lists. You will save the honor of so many deputies. You will also save the honor of so many ministers."
Claiming that the process regarding Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya's statement was not conducted transparently, Karabat said, "What statement did the Minister give, has it been announced? It cannot be done with such evasive expressions without the Minister's statement being announced. You took her statement 15 days later. You are describing drinking tea for 45 minutes, forced over 15 days, to the public as a 'statement'. She drank tea, she didn't give any statement."
