Constitutional Court audit: Legal proceedings initiated for 3 political parties

The Constitutional Court's decisions regarding the financial audits of 10 political parties have been published in the Official Gazette.

WHICH PARTIES WERE AUDITED?

According to the decisions, the 2020 financial accounts of the Ülkem Party, the Milli Mücadele Party, and the Güç Birliği Party; the 2021 financial accounts of the Kürdistan Özgürlük Party, the Toplumcu Kurtuluş Party, the Devrim Hareketi Party, the Umut Party, the Türkiye Kürdistan Demokrat Party, and the Emekçi Hareket Party; and the 2023 financial accounts of the Uyanış Party were examined.

CRIMINAL COMPLAINT DUE TO LACK OF DOCUMENTATION

While examining the 2020 final accounts of the Milli Mücadele Party and the Güç Birliği Party, the High Court determined that the income and expenses forming the basis of the headquarters' accounts were not documented. For this reason, it was decided to file a criminal complaint with the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the parties' responsible officials.

SEPARATE DECISION REGARDING UYANIŞ PARTY

In its review of the Uyanış Party's 2023 final accounts, the Constitutional Court determined that the information requested for the audit was not provided as required, that the record-keeping and documentation system was not established in an accountable manner, and that there were actions hindering the audit. In this context, it was ruled that a criminal complaint be filed with the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for legal action to be taken against the party's responsible officials.

OTHER PARTIES' ACCOUNTS FOUND COMPLIANT

The final accounts of the other political parties subject to financial audit for the relevant years were assessed as accurate, balanced, and in compliance with the Law on Political Parties No. 2820, based on the available information and documents.
