The timeline for the national digital identity wallet, which is planned to bring together essential documents such as IDs and diplomas in a digital environment in Turkey, has become clear. According to the target set in the 2027 Presidential Annual Program, the first prototype of the project will be developed next year.
Public employees will be prioritized in the first phase of the work. The digital wallet, which is envisioned to include basic identity and diploma documents, is planned to be tested at a pilot higher education institution.
The project will be carried out under the responsibility of the Presidency of Cyber Security. The Ministry of Interior and relevant public institutions and organizations will also contribute to the work through cooperation. The program emphasized that the design and delivery of digital public services will be improved through the restructuring of processes.
Simultaneously with the digital identity wallet work, it is aimed to develop the e-Government Gateway to highlight integrated services with common payment and identity verification applications. Ensuring standardization in services provided by municipalities is also among the planned topics.
As of September 2026, a total of 9,436 services from 1,130 institutions and organizations, including central public institutions, municipalities and their subsidiaries, universities, and private institutions, are provided through the e-Government Gateway.
The targets set for next year include increasing the number of registered users of the e-Government Gateway to 71 million, the number of services offered to 10,000, and the number of mobile services to 7,500.
