Controversial statements about Kemalism from Mücahit Birinci

AKP member Mücahit Birinci has returned to the spotlight with statements he made on his social media account.

Using provocative language regarding Atatürkism and Kemalism, Birinci stated that Kemalism began as an anti-İnönü movement.

Birinci began his remarks by saying, "I am saying for the millionth time that in my criticisms of Kemalism, I do not mean Atatürk or those who love Atatürk."

Birinci claimed that Kemalism has taken on different ideological colors over time and has become a tool of oppression over citizens and democracy each time.

"If you notice, Kemalism is currently in a Turkist-Tengrist hue," said Birinci, suggesting that this concept has taken root in the bureaucracy and become the cause of anti-democratic actions.

Furthermore, arguing that Kemalism is used by the West to destabilize Turkey, Birinci used the expression, "If we look from this window, the struggle against Kemalism can never be evaluated under the heading of hostility toward Atatürk." Finally, he expressed that with the new process, the influence of Kemalism has diminished and the state's need for this concept has come to an end.

In his post, where he said that Kemalism was a right-leaning anti-İnönü movement, Birinci used the following expressions:

'I am saying for the millionth time that in my criticisms of Kemalism, I do not mean Atatürk or those who love Atatürk.

Kemalism was born as a right-leaning anti-İnönü movement.

When İnönü died, Kemalism turned into an instrument that was painted in rightist, leftist, and Islamist colors, but was used as a stick over the heads of citizens and democracy every time.

If you notice, Kemalism is currently in a Turkist-Tengrist hue.

Therefore, this hollow concept has unfortunately taken hold in the bureaucracy and has become the cause of all anti-democratic acts. In this sense, it has also been used, especially by the West, to destabilize Turkey.

If we look from this window, the struggle against Kemalism can never be evaluated under the heading of hostility toward Atatürk. In fact, rescuing Atatürk from this predicament is, in my opinion, the duty of every citizen.

With the new process, we are witnessing the liquidation of this 'useful' concept. It appears that the state's need for it has come to an end.'
