Criminal complaint from Yavaş against the Gökçek family

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş has filed a criminal complaint against former Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Melih Gökçek and AKP Ankara MP Osman Gökçek. It was reported that the complaint was filed following allegations that the duo met with the inspectors who granted authorization for the investigation into Yavaş, as well as with the Inspection Board, and engaged in efforts against Yavaş during these meetings.

According to a report by Halk TV, it was claimed that Melih Gökçek and Osman Gökçek held contacts that could influence the investigation process into the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality. According to the allegation, the two met with the inspectors involved in the investigation authorization process and made assessments regarding Yavaş.

Following these developments, Yavaş filed an official criminal complaint against the two individuals.

‘HUNDREDS OF FILES WERE CONCLUDED PREVIOUSLY’

Municipal sources recalled that hundreds of complaint files filed against the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality in the past were examined by inspectors, and in all these files, the opinion was given that "the mayor cannot be held responsible." It was stated that the fact that a different decision was made this time regarding issues of the same nature has raised questions.

THE REPORT IN THE ANKAPARK FILE

It was reported that despite the applications made by the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality for years regarding the former administration in the ANKAPARK file, no decision could be reached regarding those responsible. It was stated that while this process was ongoing, a new stage has been reached in the investigations conducted into the municipality.

According to the information obtained, an inspector was appointed by the Ministry of Interior on the allegation that "the necessary care was not shown in protection" within the scope of the ANKAPARK process. The report prepared by the inspectors in April included the finding that "the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality has no fault."

REPORT REOPENED FOR REVIEW

Despite this, it was learned that the Ministry of Interior did not find the report in question sufficient and sent the file back to the inspectors for re-evaluation. This development was interpreted as the process taking a different direction in the ANKAPARK file.
