Davutoğlu's 'see me' message to Erdoğan: 'One is me, the other is Erdoğan'

Future Party Chairman Ahmet Davutoğlu has made a second move to make his voice heard by President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Following a period in which he signaled a potential return to the AKP, he has now returned to the agenda with striking statements regarding Turkey's state structure.

While evaluating the political atmosphere in Turkey, Davutoğlu emphasized that one of the two names who have a command of the state's capillary vessels is President Erdoğan, and the other is himself. According to a report by Kısa Dalga, Davutoğlu said, "I am someone who has lived his life according to principles. Everything I defended in academic life are the same principles I defended during my time as Foreign Minister and Prime Minister. Even after leaving, I never compromised on these principles. Political ethics and transparency are the fundamental values I have always defended."

'I PROMISED I WOULD NOT ENGAGE IN POLITICS'

Maintaining a firm stance on political ethics and transparency, Davutoğlu stated, "I promised I would not engage in politics. No matter how much conflict I experience, whoever is at the head of the country, when it is said that 'the state is in trouble, the nation is in distress' and help is requested, I will do my best," indicating that he is always ready to contribute in situations where the state is in difficulty.

Sharing his memories of the period when he left the Prime Ministry, Davutoğlu recounted an incident from that time: "A week or two after I left the Prime Ministry, I encountered a large crowd at the Grand Mosque. A person was pushing through the crowd toward me. I told my bodyguards, 'Let him come.' That person said, 'I have a question.' I said, 'Ask.' He said, 'I have been a village headman (muhtar) for 30 years, and I couldn't leave the position. How did you leave the Prime Ministry all of a sudden?' At that time, I said, 'I made that decision by trampling my ego under my feet,'" he stated.

Davutoğlu said that leaving politics was difficult for him, but he is open to any sacrifice to be useful for the country and the nation. Stating that leaving politics would only be possible if he were not needed, he said, "There is a need, which is why I am engaged in politics. However, this decision is not entirely mine. I will do what is necessary while remaining committed to my principles," expressing that he bases his political life on principles and the needs of his country.
