Access ban on Ekrem İmamoğlu's X account! Reactions grow like an avalanche

The X (Twitter) account of CHP Presidential Candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is currently detained at Silivri Prison, has been blocked from access.

Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is being held at Silivri Prison, had been frequently posting on his social media account while protests that began on March 19, the day he was taken into custody, and continued with his arrest, were ongoing.

Access to İmamoğlu's X account was blocked around 02:00 at night. When visiting İmamoğlu's profile, the message "In response to a legal demand, access to @ekrem_imamoglu has been restricted within the TR borders" is displayed.

REACTIONS CAME ONE AFTER ANOTHER

Reactions from party members followed one after another regarding the blocking of access to İmamoğlu's X account from Turkey.

CHP officials reacted by stating, "Imposing an access ban is an interference in politics."

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır noted the following regarding the access ban in a post on his X account:

''You tried to prevent him from becoming the mayor of 16 million Istanbulites, and he swept past you in the second election. Now you are trying to prevent him from becoming the President of 86 million. He will sweep past you at the ballot box again! All our social media accounts belong to Ekrem İmamoğlu. You continue your coup with mandated judicial decisions, but it is in vain! Neither your bans nor your account closures will be enough.''

CHP Youth Branch Chairman Cem Aydın also changed his profile photo to a picture of İmamoğlu. Aydın stated, "This is the picture of you being scared to your bones. You can close one account, but millions of us will come."

Deniz Yavuzyılmaz: IT IS AN INTERFERENCE IN POLITICS

Stating that the decision is an interference in politics, CHP Deputy Chairman Deniz Yavuzyılmaz said, "Imposing an access ban on our presidential candidate Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu's X account means interference in politics. If the X platform is free for Tayyip Erdoğan, it cannot be forbidden for his rival Ekrem İmamoğlu."

GÖKAN ZEYBEK: YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SILENCE HIM!

CHP Deputy Chairman Gökan Zeybek noted the following regarding the access ban in a post on his X account:

“Enough is enough! Dirty games do not work on this people... We woke up to another shame this morning. Our presidential candidate Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu's X account has been closed. You have truly lost so much; your courage, your legitimacy, your bond with the people!

Those who want to silence İmamoğlu should know that; his voice is now in the hearts and on the tongues of millions, and in the squares. Neither closing an account is a remedy, nor can bans suppress this hope. This nation does not remain silent in the face of injustice. We are all Ekrem İmamoğlu! You will not be able to silence him!”

"HONOR IS NOT WRITTEN IN YOUR BOOK"

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Gökhan Günaydın reacted to the access ban with a post on his X account. Günaydın used the following expressions:

"They blocked access to Ekrem İmamoğlu's X account from Turkey. Just like how they thought they could leave the area in darkness by not letting lighting equipment into Beyazıt Square. Tomorrow, the Mayor will have millions of X accounts. Honor is not written in your book, that has been clear for a long time. Shame on you."

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş also changed his X profile to a photo of İmamoğlu following the decision.

Yavaş said, "The access ban imposed on Ekrem İmamoğlu's official social media account is a censorship not just on one person, but on the voice of millions. We condemn this lawlessness in the strongest terms.

However, it should be known that; wherever justice is sought to be silenced, we will speak even louder.

This account of mine will continue to be the voice of Ekrem İmamoğlu until the access ban is lifted and will be used on his behalf."

SEVGİ KILIÇ: THE MORE YOU TRY TO SILENCE US, THE MORE WE WILL GROW

CHP Deputy Chairman Sevgi Kılıç changed her X profile to a photo of İmamoğlu following the decision. Kılıç reacted by saying, "Fear is of no use to death. The more you try to silence us with censorship, the more we will grow. That account will not close! Because that account is the account of those who are not afraid, those who do not bow to oppression, the account of the people! Ekrem İmamoğlu is the will of the people, he is the people themselves!"
