Kaftancıoğlu reacts sharply after Eren Ali Bingöl joins AKP

Tuzla Mayor Eren Ali Bingöl has shifted the political agenda with his latest move. Bingöl's decision to switch to the AK Party has sparked debate in many circles, particularly within the CHP community. One of the harshest reactions to this development came from former CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Canan Kaftancıoğlu.

In a statement on her social media account, Kaftancıoğlu pointed out that there are many qualified people within CHP organizations, criticizing those who have held such positions within the party by saying, "While there are countless qualified people in CHP organizations, the real problem was that these people, who lack ideology, ideas, or even basic morality, could find a place in a social democratic party."

Canan Kaftancıoğlu also noted that Bingöl served as the Tuzla District Chair during her own tenure as provincial chair in 2019. Regarding the matter, she stated, "Although I had no involvement in his nomination process, unfortunately, there is a characterless person in this frame who served as district chair during my term! I am very sorry, and for my part, I ask for forgiveness."
