MHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız stated that new regulations are needed regarding public opinion research and called for sanctions against polling companies.
In a statement on his social media account, Yıldız argued that some public opinion polls are being used as "operational devices" and "tools for manipulation." He stated that this situation harms the reliability of the democratic environment.
Public opinion polls used as operational devices and tools for manipulation damage the innocence of the democratic environment. Ethical and professional standards, as well as principles of authority and responsibility, must be established for those conducting public opinion research. Researchers must be obligated to provide accurate information at every stage, including data collection, analysis, and publication; fabricated research and fake content must be subject to sanctions.
