New appointments and dismissals in CHP: Comprehensive changes in leadership

Following the latest Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting of the CHP, significant changes were made to the party organizations. With the decision taken at the meeting, new appointments were made to eight provincial presidencies, and new assignments were carried out in 22 districts of Istanbul. A new name was also determined for the Youth Branches.

Müslim Sarı, spokesperson for the Butlan administration, announced the decisions taken after the meeting. In his statement, he touched upon the new framework law submitted to parliament and the party's approach to the disarmament process in Turkey. Sarı stated, "The law envisions that after organizations lay down their arms, a report will be submitted to the National Security Council, and the process will begin with the decision to be taken. As the Republican People's Party, we find it important that this process proceeds in a conditional and time-bound manner, where parliament is effective."

Within the scope of the appointments, new provincial presidents were assigned to the provinces of Ardahan, Çankırı, Erzincan, Kahramanmaraş, Karabük, Kırklareli, Kilis, and Kocaeli. It was also announced that a renewal was carried out in 22 district organizations in Istanbul.

By the decision of the MYK, Mersin Mezitli Mayor Serkan Tuncer and Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan were referred to the disciplinary board with a request for permanent expulsion. In a previous meeting, it was announced that the provincial presidents of İzmir, Erzurum, Bursa, and Bitlis were dismissed from their duties and referred to the disciplinary board. The entire management of some provincial organizations, including the CHP Ankara Provincial Presidency, was dissolved.

Women's Branch President Asu Kaya, whose duty was terminated, was also among those referred to the disciplinary board. The grounds for the disciplinary decisions taken against these individuals were cited as their involvement in the absolute nullity case and the issues stated in the indictment.

While there was also a change in the Antalya and Kayseri provincial presidencies, Hasan Şahin and Okan Marzıoğlu were appointed as the new presidents for these provinces. In İzmir, the initiation of disciplinary proceedings against some party members due to incidents during the management change came to the agenda.

In the past period, all managers in many provinces such as Ağrı, Aksaray, Batman, Bilecik, Bolu, Eskişehir, Hakkari, Iğdır, Kars, Kırıkkale, Manisa, Mardin, Muğla, Muş, Niğde, Nevşehir, Osmaniye, Samsun, Sivas, and Tunceli had been dismissed. Together with these provinces, a change was made in a total of 22 provincial presidencies, and new appointments were made to 15 of them.

Managements in the centers of Edirne, Isparta, Kastamonu, Konya, Tokat, Zonguldak, Yalova, and Rize were also dissolved. It was announced that new provincial presidents were appointed to these provinces as well. Furthermore, it was stated that some provincial presidents were referred to the disciplinary board with a request for permanent expulsion.

In its last meeting, the MYK dismissed the management in 8 provinces, including the Konya and Tokat provincial presidents, and determined seven new provincial presidents. Finally, appointments were made to the provinces of Amasya, Artvin, Balıkesir, Burdur, Giresun, Çorum, Kars, Kastamonu, Kütahya, Rize, Trabzon, and Zonguldak.
