CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made evaluations regarding the agenda during his party's group meeting. Özel responded to AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's remarks about the “fund” allegations by referencing Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya.
Criticizing Erdoğan's statements, Özel said, “Believe me, our nation has never seen such shamelessness.” Reacting to Erdoğan's words that “Fatma Hanım gave in to her desires,” Özel drew attention to the scale of the allegations.
Someone who steals a loaf of bread from a bakery goes to jail, someone who gives in to their desires for a tray of baklava goes to jail, but someone who walks away with 2 billion 200 million is said to have ‘given in to their desires’! This is the dark order of the AK Party.
Özel argued that Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya is “just the tip of the iceberg” in the transactions in question. Speaking about the housing account regarding the money Kaya deposited and later withdrew, Özel said, “While 27 apartments could be bought with the money Fatma Hanım deposited, 367 apartments could be bought with the money she withdrew 5 months later.”
The CHP leader claimed that because Kaya conducted the transactions under her own name and her husband's name, she stood out on the list at first glance. Özel stated, “Because she was not as skillful as other members of the cabinet, Fatma Hanım conducted the transactions directly under her own name and her husband's name.”
