Şamil Tayyar speaks out on the fund operation: 'Two critical names' could be added to the process

AKP member Şamil Tayyar made a new statement on his social media account regarding the fund crisis currently being debated by the public. Arguing that the investigation will not remain at its current stage, Tayyar suggested that new developments could occur, using the phrase "two critical names."

In his post titled "On the Fund Operation," Tayyar stated that the data regarding the file has changed. According to Tayyar, as of now, 112 out of 433 suspects are in custody; asset freezes have been applied to 470 individuals and companies, and the amount of voluntary restitution has reached 30 billion liras.

Tayyar described the detention of former minister Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya as an "important threshold." He interpreted the commencement of interrogations of senior executives from the BRSA (BDDK), the CMB (SPK), and Takasbank as a sign that the operation is deepening in stages.

In his post, Tayyar stated, "As I understand it, it will not stop here; it seems that 'two critical names' that the public has been discussing extensively, as well as others, will be added to the operation," and assessed that simultaneous dismissals could also be on the agenda.

Tayyar claimed that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is preparing for the removal of individuals who are considered to have gained unfair profits from the fund or failed to perform their duties. However, he argued that the process being spread out over time increases speculation and makes the government's transition to a "treatment process" more difficult.

Tayyar stated that the scope of the investigation must be clarified as soon as possible, the judicial process must be accelerated, and the loopholes in the system must be addressed. He expressed that Turkey needs to emerge from the fund crisis rapidly in order to focus on fundamental agendas such as pensions, the minimum wage, and employment.
