Tayfun Kahraman reacts to divorce comments: I expect our privacy to be respected

City planner Tayfun Kahraman, who was sentenced to 18 years in prison in the Gezi Park trial, has responded to certain comments made on social media following the mutual decision to end his marriage with Meriç Demir.

Quoting Demir's post regarding the divorce, Kahraman reacted to the assessments made about their separation and requested that their private lives be respected.

“It is impossible to understand some of the comments regarding our jointly taken decision about our future. Meriç has always been my greatest supporter, especially in the face of this injustice, and even though we have separated, I have full faith that her selfless support will continue. I felt compelled to state, upon seeing these comments, that I do not accept comments that take the form of attacks on our character, and that I expect our privacy and private lives to be respected. Thank you for your sensitivity.”
