They voted for the AKP candidate: Disciplinary process for 3 CHP members in Adalar

A disciplinary process has been initiated within the CHP following the deputy mayoral election in the Adalar Municipality. After Deputy Mayor Medine Pamuk resigned from her post citing health issues, the AK Party's candidate, Kemal Türkyılmaz, was elected as deputy mayor in the subsequent vote.

It was stated that Türkyılmaz was elected deputy mayor in the third round of the four-round election held in the Municipal Council. It was reported that 3 CHP Municipal Council members voted for AK Party's Kemal Türkyılmaz instead of the CHP's candidate, Aytül Ekşiyan.

Following this development, the CHP İstanbul Provincial Presidency referred Yavuz Çiftçioğlu, İsmail Onur Balbınar, and Ahmet Tanay Garip to the disciplinary board with a request for "permanent expulsion."

In a statement made after the election, the process was met with a reaction. CHP İstanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik stated, "10 council members against 2 council members through pressure, threats, and blackmail. Arrest 5 of the 10 council members, threaten 3, and transfer the other. Is this your politics?"
