TKP statement on Cuba on the 73rd anniversary of the Moncada Barracks attack
In a statement released on the 73rd anniversary of the Moncada Barracks attack, the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) highlighted the historical role of July 26 in the process leading to the Cuban Revolution.
The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) has released a statement marking the 73rd anniversary of the Moncada Barracks attack, which is considered one of the turning points in the process leading to the Cuban Revolution.
In the statement titled "The fire lit on July 26 continues to show the way," it was noted that the attack on the Moncada Barracks in Santiago de Cuba on July 26, 1953, was a symbol of the Cuban people's uprising against the Batista dictatorship, imperialist domination, and exploitation.

The statement emphasized that while the action taken by Fidel Castro and his comrades against Moncada, known as Cuba's largest military barracks, failed from a military perspective, it served as a historical beginning for the revolutionary process.
FROM MONCADA TO THE 1959 REVOLUTION
In the TKP's assessment, it was pointed out that Santiago de Cuba, where the Moncada Barracks is located, was also the city where rebellions against Spanish colonialism began in the past. It was stated that the young revolutionaries who participated in the attack set out on the 100th anniversary of the birth of José Martí, the leader of independence, with the aim of completing the struggle for independence he had initiated.
The statement noted that the arrests following the Moncada attack could not break the will of the revolutionary cadres, and that this will was reorganized in the Sierra Maestra and across the country, which is how the process that led Cuba to the revolution on January 1, 1959, developed.

The statement also mentioned that Cuba continues its struggle under difficult conditions today, arguing that the legacy of July 26 carries a common historical meaning not only for Cubans but also for revolutionaries around the world fighting against imperialism.
The text included the following: "The most important legacy of July 26 is the knowledge that even under the most difficult conditions, the creative will and determination of the people can tear through the darkness."
In its statement, the TKP noted that the vanguard cadres who paved the way to the revolution in Cuba were remembered with respect on July 26, the National Rebellion Day, and sent greetings to the Cuban people.
