Ümit Özdağ to Minister Yusuf Tekin: 'I am amazed at how he passed my class'

Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ, made remarks regarding Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin during his speech at the party's 2nd Ordinary Istanbul Provincial Congress. 

Özdağ stated that Minister Tekin was his doctoral student and expressed his surprise at how he had passed his course in the past.

'HE WAS MY STUDENT'

Criticizing Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin's remarks on secularism, Özdağ said, "This man called Yusuf Tekin was my student in my doctoral course. How on earth did he pass my class? I am amazed. It seems I didn't grade his paper correctly. He also wrote his doctoral thesis under the supervision of Mümtazer Türköne. It is clear what kind of thesis he wrote." he said.

MINISTER TEKIN HAD BEEN CRITICIZED FOR HIS REMARKS ON SECULARISM 

Minister Tekin had sparked controversy with his remarks on the concept of secularism, stating, "I support universal secularism, while you are imposing on me a concept of secularism that you invented specifically for Turkey. This is not acceptable. You took a child who wanted to attend university wearing a headscarf and put her in a 'persuasion room,' doing so in the name of secularism. The secularism you defend is not the same as the secularism I understand."
