The YENİ Party Central Executive Board (MYK) met at the party headquarters under the chairmanship of Özgür Özel. The meeting addressed topics such as the latest developments in the fund crisis, the Mecca Agreement, preparations for the party congress, the 2027 budget, and taking the absolute nullity decision against the CHP to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
Following the meeting, party officials made assessments regarding the impact of the fund crisis on poll results and announced that a delegation of MPs would take action to meet with those arrested within the scope of the investigation in prison. The officials also made statements regarding a possible early election and operations targeting municipalities.
YENİ PARTY'S POLL ASSESSMENT: “IN THE POSITION OF THE LEADING PARTY”
While the fund crisis desk, established with the participation of the party's economic staff following the fund scandal, continues its work, it was learned that the YENİ Party has commissioned polls to measure the political consequences of the crisis.
Evaluating the poll results, party officials claimed that the crisis caused the AKP to lose 6 points. Stating that the YENİ Party rose to the first place as of September, the officials used the following expressions:
“As of September, the YENİ Party is in the position of the leading party. In the August polls, we were in the position of the second party, albeit for a short time. We have risen again now. After the undecided voters are distributed, there is a three-point difference with the AKP. In the polls conducted by their own public opinion researchers close to the AK Party, they have seen a six-point decline. This has disturbed the President very much. There is a serious erosion. One in six families has been affected by the fund crisis. There is a serious reaction among AK Party voters.”
ASSESSMENT REGARDING THE POSSIBILITY OF A SNAP ELECTION
The question of whether the statements of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan pointing to the end of the year regarding the situation of retirees could be evaluated as preparation for a snap election was also directed to the party officials.
Stating that they do not expect a snap election at a time when the fund crisis is on the agenda and the AKP is declining in the polls, the officials argued that the government will primarily try to recover the economy.
In their assessment of the subject, the officials used the following expressions:
“With the fund issue on the agenda like this and the AKP declining in the polls, they will not go to a snap election. They will want to recover the economy and then go to an election, but the country is slipping away. It should not continue like this for the sake of Tayyip Erdoğan's personal survival. The country needs to be taken to an election as soon as possible and pulled out of this predicament it has fallen into with a new administration and a new understanding.”
THEY WILL MEET WITH THE ARRESTED FOR THE FUND INVESTIGATION
It was recalled that a delegation consisting of 10 MPs was established to uncover the details of the investigation into the fund crisis. Party officials announced that the delegation would meet with the people arrested within the scope of the investigation in prisons.
Stating that questions aimed at clarifying all dimensions of the incident would be asked during the meetings, the officials made the following statement:
“Our friends will visit those arrested within the scope of the investigation in prisons and ask questions to reach the truth. Since the government is not doing the job of uncovering the incident in all its dimensions, we will strive to do so. Perhaps the people to be interviewed will point to other names involved in the embezzlement. Even if the government does not want the Parliament to investigate this matter, we will do our best to question it.”
“WE ARE PREPARING FOR THE HEAVIEST PRESSURES”
Evaluating the operations targeting the Bakırköy and Merkezefendi municipalities, YENİ Party officials claimed that the practices against the municipalities created pressure on their party.
Stating that the closure of Halk TV also had an impact on their voters, the officials claimed that the government could increase the pressure until the election process.
Stating that the party organization and its members must be prepared, the officials continued their statements as follows:
“We wake up every day to operations; to moves trying to corner our municipalities and us. Things that are not done to an AK Party municipality are done to us every day. We are hurting more, our elected officials are inside, but this is not just our problem. The closure of Halk TV also created trauma among our voters. There is no segment or institution left untouched. We can foresee that the government will continue by increasing the dose until the election. There is nothing more natural than us preparing for the heaviest pressures from now on. It is important to keep the organization, the party, and ourselves vigorous and alive. This has turned into a war. We are in a war waged against our party, against those who believe like us, and against those who think like us. We are in this state because we are the most serious alternative to the government. We are facing a government that is progressing within a certain plan. With its judiciary branches, law enforcement, and media, the government has descended upon us like a dark cloud. But we have no doubt that the nation will disperse this cloud at the ballot box.”
