Access to news reports regarding the selection of JMW Jant, a subsidiary of Jantsa—a company in which Ercan Çerçioğlu, the husband of Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu, is a partner—as a supplier for TOGG’s new vehicle program has been blocked.
The Freedom of Expression Association (İFÖD) announced that the decision was made under Article 8/A of Law No. 5651, citing the “protection of national security and public order” as the justification.
News reports regarding the selection of JMW Jant, a subsidiary of Jantsa—a company in which Ercan Çerçioğlu, the husband of Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu, is a partner—as a supplier for TOGG’s new vehicle program, have been blocked from access under Article 8/A of Law No. 5651 on the grounds of protecting national security and public order.
The process involving the company in question had also been the subject of political debate following Çerçioğlu’s departure from the CHP to join the AKP. Assessments made at that time indicated that the wheel rim company in which Ercan Çerçioğlu is a partner would be closely monitored.
In a statement made by the company to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), it was announced that JMW Jant Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. had been “selected as a supplier for development, validation, and mass production processes” within the scope of a new vehicle program conducted by TOGG.
