First Geekbench 7 result for Apple M6 emerges: 27 percent increase in multi-core compared to M5

The first Geekbench 7 result, stated to belong to Apple's next-generation M6 processor, has emerged. The test appearing in the database indicates that the M6 could make a significant leap, especially in multi-core performance, compared to the M5.

According to the result, the Apple M6 scored 4,071 in single-core and 22,783 in multi-core. The Geekbench 7 average for the M5 is around 3,641 in single-core and 17,948 in multi-core. This table represents an increase of approximately 12 percent in single-core and up to 27 percent in multi-core.

However, it is noted that the data is currently based on a single test and serves as an early record rather than verified, comprehensive results. Additionally, the fact that the M6 result was obtained from the new Mac mini while the M5 average was taken from 14-inch MacBook Pro results are among the factors limiting a direct comparison.

On the single-core side, the 4,071-point result places the M6 among the prominent processors in Geekbench 7. For comparison, the M5 Max is seen to be at the 3,731-point level, while the Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme is at 3,396 points.

The 22,783 points in multi-core places the M6 just below the M4 Pro, which scored approximately 24,894 points. The difference with older generations is more pronounced: since the multi-core score of the first M1 is around 8,582, it is seen that the M6 offers performance exceeding 2.5 times that of the M1 in this area.

According to the information provided, the Apple M6 is being prepared with a 2 nm manufacturing process. While the processor features a 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU, dual 16-core Neural Engines are used for artificial intelligence operations.

The M6 is expected to be used first in the new Mac mini. While it is stated that the new Mac mini will go on sale on September 22, there is no result in the Geekbench 7 database yet showing the M6's GPU performance. More comprehensive tests will need to be awaited for the picture in daily use, gaming, and professional applications.
