Google has caused some controversy with its Gemini AI. While the company was working to create a more egalitarian and inclusive system, it drew backlash, particularly for generating figures such as a Black King of England. Currently, the image generation feature of the AI tool has been disabled to address the issues.

In a statement made from Google's X account, it was stated, "We're already working to address recent issues with Gemini's image generation feature. While we do this, we're going to pause the image generation of people and will re-release an improved version soon." Currently, those who want to generate images containing people are informed that the feature is under development and will be available for use again soon.

Google had previously apologized for "inaccuracies in generating some historical images." The company admitted that its efforts to generate a wide range of images with its Gemini AI missed the mark.

Gemini AI had been criticized for selecting historical figures from different ethnic backgrounds. It is believed that this issue is related to the system's attempt to correct existing racial biases.

Google stated that it is aware of these issues and is working to improve the definitions. By recently launching the image generation service in its Gemini AI, formerly known as Bard, the company had closed a gap with its competitors. However, users noticed that the AI was not successful with historical figures while trying to incorporate racial and gender diversity.

The criticisms did not come only from far-right groups; a former Google employee also stated that it was "embarrassingly difficult to get Gemini to acknowledge that white people exist."

Gemini experienced similar problems when trying to generate images of people from countries where the vast majority of the population is white.
