Qualcomm announces the era of 'agentic AI' at Snapdragon Summit
At the Snapdragon Summit, Qualcomm announced that artificial intelligence is evolving from tools that wait for commands into systems that take on tasks on behalf of the user.
Qualcomm signaled a new phase in its artificial intelligence strategy at the Snapdragon Summit event. In his assessment on stage, the company's CEO, Cristiano Amon, stated that the era known as "agentic AI" has begun.
This approach aims to transform AI from a tool that merely responds to given commands into a structure that understands the user's intent, follows context, and completes tasks with permission. Qualcomm is placing on-device local inference power and the Snapdragon platform at the center of this transformation.
WHAT DOES AGENTIC AI PROMISE?
According to the company, the new generation of AI experience will be shaped by an ecosystem where different devices—from smartphones to computers, smartwatches to automobiles and headphones—work together. The goal is to reduce repetitive tasks for users and make technology more personal, proactive, and seamless.
In the agentic AI concept highlighted by Qualcomm, systems can offer more personal results by learning the user's habits and preferences. Key advantages of this model include developing suggestions at the moment of need instead of waiting for commands, providing faster responses because it processes on the device, and the ability to operate without moving sensitive data to the cloud.
- - Personalized memory that learns the user's routines
- - A proactive working style that can anticipate needs
- - Low-latency responses thanks to on-device processing
- - A trust and privacy approach based on user permission
- - Seamless integration between devices

Qualcomm CMO Don McGuire emphasized that this transformation cannot be the product of a single company. According to McGuire, collaborations to be established between hardware manufacturers, software developers, global brands, and content creators will be decisive in the widespread adoption of the agentic AI experience.
One of the examples of this approach was demonstrated with Mastercard at the event. The financial company presented a demo on how AI agents could take on roles in payment systems and customer experience using Qualcomm hardware. The scenario revealed that in the future, some financial transactions could be managed by smart agents within a framework of user approval and security.
Qualcomm's message is that competition in AI will not progress solely through processing power or technical specifications. The company aims to make the Snapdragon architecture the backbone of a new generation of AI experience where personal devices work in greater coordination, focus on the user's goals, and continuously monitor context.
