The solution to our crisis is not at the ballot box!

It is not just Turkey that is in crisis. The “established order” is shaking on a global scale.

In that case, there are things that need to be thought about...

For example: In comfortable times, you can fight off minor ailments like a cold, the flu, etc., with aspirin, vitamin C, and the like. You might even be successful. But what if your health problem has turned into a crisis that calls out to death? When can you realize that you cannot overcome this crisis with your old “medicine” habits? Only when it is too late?

“Ballot box comfort” is something like that. It is like hoping for help from aspirin while the body is collapsing... The illusion of the ballot box is useless in a deep-seated crisis that will turn society upside down; it only ensures that the victims lose time.

Let us put it this way, then, let it be clear: Great progressive transformations, especially in modern times, do not happen by the majority or once that majority is reached. There is no “key” called “51 percent” in history. That is a bait for the well-off and those who can manage their affairs...

Transformations have a period of theoretical preparation. That is what is truly important. It is the “minority of the minority” of people who identify the crisis and dedicate a lifetime to the solution, and the ideas they produce. We are talking about the spark carried by an idea that has entered circulation through books, newspapers, digital means, etc. We are talking about the agitators who are obsessed with the salvation of humanity and are willing to give up everything, who produce thought—that is, politics and art... They are necessarily in the minority... That is how it starts... The idea is looking for its substance.

1789, the mother of all revolutions, was it the work of the majority? Which masses stormed the Bastille? Did millions of people storm the Bastille? The fate of world history was changed by 600-700 people, is that correct? What about the Moncada? What about our National Struggle?

World history does not emerge from the ballot box. It emerges from thought, from theory. It emerges from the idea that is looking for its substance. In this search, the ballot box is not all that important. It is painful, but that is the truth.

Before great transformations, there is thought. Before Robespierre, there was Jean-Jacques Rousseau. You know, the one whose house the young Robespierre used to circle from afar with all his admiration. If the theory is not ready, there is no movement. Should we think that our deficiency is not the masses that make up the majority, etc., but theory? Perhaps. But we would be doing an injustice; what we have in abundance is exactly that.

Was there no thought in the republic that is being dismantled and destroyed?

There was. There is.

Again: Great social transformations do not come about with the majority of the people against the rulers who hold the masses in their hands. We can achieve that transformation when a “minority” declares that it is ready to take hold of the fate of a collapsing country, and when the social crisis can no longer be reined in, with cadres who aspire to the responsibility of power on behalf of the people. Thought can find its substance in the masses. Immediately after political power... Not before...

Whoever wishes can add 1917, 1923, 1949, and 1959 to 1789.

WHERE THERE IS DANGER, THERE IS ALSO THE SAVIOR

Let us remember Hölderlin. “Where there is danger, there is also the savior,” he said in a poem. He was pointing out that they grow together.

This means that if there is a crisis (danger), there is also a transcendent and egalitarian cadre aspiring to solve it. But they are not the majority. They are a minority.

The Republic is our true history. What came before should be considered prehistory or a prologue. Let us look there: When Mustafa Kemal set out, he was in the minority. Did Yakup Kadri not write his novel “Yaban” (The Stranger) to underline this painful truth?

What about today? In our dismantled republic, the masses are still in the palm of the Islamist government. But the theory is with us. Theory is the great power in the minority. The spark approaching the gunpowder. The anger accumulated in a crisis, no matter how much it accumulates, is useless on its own. Society is such a mechanism. Waiting anger can wait for centuries. It even gets damp...

If there is no spark, and if there is no outside intervention, the gunpowder has no danger either.

Turgut Uyar, I believe it was just after May 27, wrote that “poetry is at a dead end, because man is at a dead end.”

Let us not see that man is at a dead end only in Islamist Ankara and its opposition cats, or in the administrations of the CHP-Yeni Parti-DEM-TİP-EMEP, etc.

The USA is at a dead end. Europe is at a dead end. But the solution and salvation will not come from Washington or Brussels, or the Paris-Berlin axis, etc.

Let us look at ourselves. At our great chaos... At our crisis where the solution will not be sought in the multitude...

Without republican theory, there is no republican movement. Yet we have such a theoretical accumulation. For this truth, the majority does not need to receive approval from the ballot box.

Without theory, the ballot box is just a painkiller. You swallow the pill, your pain subsides for a while, and this order, the source of the pain, continues to exploit. In other words, the rulers remain rulers.

We listed the names of that pill as parties a moment ago. That is the situation with us.
