US President Donald Trump announced that the investigation into the cyberattack on the cryptocurrency exchange Binance is ongoing. When asked whether the attack was carried out by a North Korean hacker group, Trump replied, "We don't know. We are investigating the attack on Binance."
Trump answered questions from reporters following his meeting in the Oval Office with US citizen Stephen Hubbard, who was released by Russia. When asked if the stolen assets could be recovered, Trump stated that Binance had informed him they would recover the funds and that they guaranteed it.

Trump drew attention to the risks of digital financial transactions, stating, "But this was a cyberattack. That is the problem." Recalling that money used to be withdrawn through traditional methods like signing checks, Trump noted that transactions are now conducted in a different way.
"Nobody sees the money anymore. I have always thought that this is a bit dangerous," said Trump, adding that Binance had conveyed that they have largely brought the situation under control, and remarked, "We will see."

Binance had previously announced that it was investigating reports of a potential security issue and that user funds were safe. In the company's latest statement, it was reported that the estimated size of the security breach is 6.3 billion dollars and that approximately 3 billion dollars in assets have been frozen.
