YouTube announces new AI-powered tools and personalized feed features

YouTube introduced new features to be added to the platform this year at its Made on YouTube event. The company's announcements focused on tools that personalize content discovery for viewers, as well as AI-powered innovations that will accelerate video production processes for creators.

One of the standout features for viewers will be Custom Feeds. With this system, users will be able to create personalized content feeds by typing in a specific topic or mood. Ask YouTube will provide AI-powered answers for video and product searches.

New AI tools will be added to YouTube Studio for content creators. A Gemini-powered chat-based editing tool to be used within Shorts and YouTube Create will assist with tasks such as cutting pauses in videos, syncing music, and changing the order of clips.

YouTube Studio will also provide feedback on videos, generate thumbnails that match the channel's style, and offer the ability to compare three different video edits. The company also announced that the Likeness Detection system, aimed at protecting the use of faces and voices, will be brought to mobile devices.

On the Shorts side, there are plans to allow videos to be organized into seasons and episodes. This innovation will provide a more traditional episodic structure, especially for short series and micro-dramas.

For live streams, real-time automatic dubbing and a collaborative broadcast feature called Live Showdowns will be launched. Ask Music, announced for YouTube Music, will enable music and podcast searches using natural language; Podcast Lineup will offer users personalized podcast recommendations every week with short audio summaries.
