2027 Spanish Super Cup to be played in Istanbul: Hacıosmanoğlu says, "The world's attention will turn to Turkey"
Istanbul will host the Spanish Super Cup from February 2-6, 2027. Four Spanish giants will take the field at three different stadiums during the tournament.
A promotional meeting for the 2027 Spanish Super Cup, which will be held in Istanbul, was hosted by the Turkish Football Federation in Riva. The tournament will be played between February 2 and 6, 2027, at three different stadiums in Istanbul.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Osman Aşkın Bak, Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, TFF President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu, Advisor to the Saudi Royal Court and Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority Turki Al-Sheikh, Spanish Football Federation President Rafael Louzan, and World Ethnosport Confederation President Bilal Erdoğan.
TFF President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu pointed to Istanbul's experience in international sports organizations, stating that Turkey hosts major events with its modern stadiums, transportation infrastructure, and logistical capacity.
The impact of this organization will not be limited to the competition on the field. The Spanish Super Cup will be broadcast live in more than 150 countries worldwide, reaching millions of football fans.
MATCH SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED
Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, and Real Sociedad will compete in the organization. The semi-final pairings were announced as Barcelona vs. Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid vs. Real Sociedad.
The first semi-final, the Barcelona vs. Atletico Madrid match, will be played on February 2 at the Fenerbahçe Şükrü Saracoğlu Sports Complex. The Real Madrid vs. Real Sociedad match will take place on February 3 at Tüpraş Stadium. The final of the tournament will be held on February 6 at RAMS Park.
Hacıosmanoğlu stated that football fans coming to Istanbul will not only watch the competition of world stars but will also have the opportunity to get to know Turkey's history, culture, and passion for sports up close.
Spanish Football Federation President Rafael Louzan also expressed that relations between Turkey and Spain are going through a strong period. Louzan said the tournament would bring Spanish football to new audiences and strengthen sporting ties between the two countries.
In February 2027, Istanbul will be the new home of the Spanish Super Cup, and we believe that Turkish fans will embrace this tournament as if it were their own home.
Recalling that Istanbul hosted the 2005 and 2023 Champions League finals and the 2026 Europa League final, Louzan emphasized that the city is ready for major organizations. While it was noted that the Spanish Super Cup has been held in Saudi Arabia in recent years, the tournament will be moved to Istanbul for the first time with the 2027 edition.
