3-window transfer ban for Süper Lig club

Süper Lig side Gençlerbirliği has faced sanctions from FIFA due to financial obligations remaining from previous periods. FIFA has imposed a player registration ban on the capital city representative for three transfer windows.

In accordance with the decision, Gençlerbirliği's transfer window has been closed. It was stated that the club could request the lifting of the ban by applying to FIFA after paying the debt subject to the penalty.

Gençlerbirliği had previously experienced a similar process. The club's transfer window was closed in May and reopened in June after the necessary payment was made.

In the club, which wants to strengthen its squad before the new season, head coach Metin Diyadin had also recently drawn attention to the need for transfers. Diyadin had stated, "Our current agenda is to make transfers and add players to the team. We have no other agenda besides this. I think it is mandatory for the necessary reinforcements to be made to this team."

The Gençlerbirliği management is expected to take steps to make the necessary payment in the short term to have the ban lifted.
