A new tender process has emerged for the Turkish broadcasting rights of the UEFA Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League matches. Under the current agreement, these organizations will be broadcast on TRT platforms for the final time in the 2026/2027 season. Following this, a new broadcasting package covering the 2027-2033 period will come into effect.
According to reports from Donanım Haber, it is suggested that TRT plans a more limited participation in the new tender period. The claim suggests that TRT wants to focus specifically on UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League matches played on Thursday evenings. For Wednesday evenings, it is stated that the channel plans to air a different series project.
For the Champions League broadcasting rights, it is alleged that Saran Group Media and Amazon could act in partnership. If this scenario materializes, it could lead to matches being available to viewers via S Sport and Amazon Prime Video.
A separate model is also being discussed for matches involving Turkish teams. It is stated that these matches could be transferred to Acun Media, similar to national team broadcasts, and aired free-to-air on TV8. However, no official statement has been made on these topics yet.
It is also noted that UEFA has increased its technical broadcasting requirements for the new period. Accordingly, it is requested that Champions League matches be filmed with 25 high-definition cameras and that an AI-supported live broadcasting infrastructure in horizontal format be used for mobile devices. The increase in broadcasting fees is also considered to be one of the determining factors in the tender process.
