Beşiktaş: We have applied to intervene in the betting investigation
Beşiktaş Club announced that it has applied to intervene in the investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding allegations that 152 referees placed bets.
In a statement regarding the matter, the black-and-white club said, "Following the announcement by Turkish Football Federation President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu that 371 referees have betting accounts and that 152 of them have been identified as actively placing bets, our club filed an application today to intervene in the investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
We have submitted a notification to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office requesting that the investigation be expanded to determine whether all matches played by our Football A Team over the last five seasons were subject to unlawful betting through referees or other suspects, and whether there are any criminal acts that have caused damage or loss of rights to our club. The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has been informed that our club is ready to provide any support required within the scope of the investigation."
