Successive departures have occurred within the Galatasaray management. Following the resignation of Second President Metin Öztürk, it has been reported that Abdullah Kavukcu has also left the board.
While announcing his decision to resign, Öztürk cited events that he stated took place during the board meeting on October 27 as the reason. Öztürk alleged that he was physically assaulted during the meeting and that insults were directed at his late mother.
Announcing that he has resigned from his positions on the Galatasaray Board of Directors and the boards of the club's affiliated companies, Öztürk used the following expressions in his statement:
“Neither my Galatasaray upbringing nor the upbringing I received from my mother and father allows me to accept the act that took place at our Board of Directors meeting on October 27, which turned into a physical assault and insults against my late mother. As of today, I am resigning from my memberships on the Galatasaray Board of Directors and the boards of its affiliated companies.”
