Edin Dzeko's Fenerbahçe confession and remarks on Galatasaray
Edin Dzeko, who transferred to Fiorentina, spoke to the Italian press about the football atmosphere in Turkey and his experiences at Fenerbahçe.
39-year-old Bosnian footballer Edin Dzeko, who left Fenerbahçe to join the Italian team Fiorentina, made notable statements regarding the football environment in Turkey. Stating that the pressure on football in Turkey is intense, Dzeko said, "Turkey is not an easy country; there is a lot of pressure, and Twitter dominates there. It determines the mood and dissatisfaction, and it influences the environment."
Evaluating his season at Fenerbahçe, Dzeko said, "Last year, we finished the league with 99 points and remained three points behind Galatasaray; but even if we had scored 105 points, we would still have finished second." With this statement, he drew attention to how challenging the football competition in Turkey is.
Furthermore, touching upon the reactions of Galatasaray fans on social media, Dzeko remarked, "In the match we played against Göztepe, when Talisca missed the penalty in the 93rd minute, Galatasaray fans started tweeting that the referee wanted to put the ball in, pointing out the movement of his foot..." Dzeko also added that Mourinho's desire to win the league has almost become an obsession.
