Fenerbahçe bids farewell to Final Four in semifinals
Fenerbahçe Beko was eliminated from the EuroLeague Final Four after losing 79-61 to Greek side Olympiacos in the semifinal match.
The Fenerbahçe men's basketball team faced Olympiacos in the EuroLeague Final Four semifinals, hosted in Athens.
The Greek team started the match with a 12-0 run. Although the yellow-and-navies tried to close the gap in the second quarter, the first half ended with Olympiacos leading 33-24.
Georgios Bartzokas's students also started the second half with an 11-0 run, bringing the score to 44-24. Despite Fenerbahçe going on a 15-4 run in the third quarter following adjustments by Sarunas Jasikevicius, they entered the final period trailing 56-41.
Unable to close the gap in the final period, the yellow-and-navies were defeated 79-61 by Olympiacos and bid farewell to the cup.
Competing in the Final Four for the 8th time in its history, Fenerbahçe was eliminated in the semifinal stage for the 4th time.
Olympiacos will face the winner of the Valencia-Real Madrid semifinal on Sunday at 21:00 TRT. Following a decision made last summer, there will be no third-place match.
