Ministry files lawsuit against Galatasaray for outstanding debt

The Ministry of Youth and Sports has initiated legal proceedings to collect the annual amateur sports contribution fee that Galatasaray is obligated to pay under the protocol regarding the usage rights of the Seyrantepe Sports Complex.

According to a report by Ajansspor, the Ministry first initiated enforcement proceedings against the yellow-red club on the grounds that the payment in question had not been made. The enforcement process was halted after Galatasaray objected to the proceedings.

Following the objection, the Ministry filed a lawsuit against the club. The case file states that a claim of 18 million 966 thousand 895 Turkish Lira and 40 kuruş is being sought, with a request for bad-faith compensation as well.

The lawsuit has come to the fore over an alleged payment under the Seyrantepe Sports Complex usage rights protocol.

The Galatasaray side, however, argued that the amount subject to the lawsuit had already been paid. The club's lawyers claimed that the Ministry calculated retroactive differences and interest, and also generated a high debt amount by recalculating for the year 2025.

The final decision in the process is expected to be clarified following the court's evaluation of the payment records, protocol provisions, and debt calculations submitted by the parties.
