New venue for cancelled Formula 1 race announced

The race to be held in place of the Bahrain Grand Prix, which was cancelled in Formula 1 due to security reasons, has been clarified.

In a statement made on Formula 1's official website, it was announced that the Sepang International Circuit has been added to the season calendar to replace the Bahrain Grand Prix. It was reported that the race will be held between October 2-4, 2026, in the calendar gap between the Azerbaijan and Singapore Grand Prix.

The Sepang Circuit will host Formula 1 again after a long break. The Malaysian Grand Prix was last held in the 2017 season, and the race was won by Dutch driver Max Verstappen.

The Bahrain Grand Prix had been removed from the 2026 season calendar as part of security measures taken due to developments in the Middle East.
