Nicolas Raskin explains why he rejected the Beşiktaş offer: 'There wasn't much time to decide'

Nicolas Raskin, whom Beşiktaş was interested in adding to their squad during the summer transfer window, announced that he rejected the offer from the black-and-white club. The Belgian midfielder, who plays for Rangers, stated that the transfer process was not easy for either him or his family.

Describing the summer as "difficult," Raskin said that the transfer was not as simple as it appeared from the outside. Emphasizing that non-football factors were also decisive in the process, the player said, "The problem was not with my performance or the clubs. Perhaps it just wasn't the right time."

The Belgian footballer explained that the Beşiktaş offer was presented to him on the morning of September 2, the day Rangers were set to travel for an away match against Falkirk. Stating that he had to go to the hotel with the team that day, Raskin said he did not even know whether the transfer would happen during the journey to the match.

Raskin said, "In the end, I played 90 minutes and rejected the Beşiktaş offer. There is a great deal of uncertainty for players and their families during the transfer window. And you don't have much time to make a decision."

Using positive language regarding Beşiktaş, Raskin said that the black-and-white club is a good team that competes in Europe and fights for trophies in Turkey. However, stating that he is happy at Rangers, the player expressed that he has left the process behind and is focused on his team again.

Beşiktaş President Serdal Adalı also commented on the Raskin transfer, stating that they had been interested in the player for 2-3 years but encountered a different problem with every attempt. Adalı noted that Raskin being included in the match squad while negotiations were ongoing with his club this season affected the process, saying, "While we were struggling, asking 'Will it be ready in time?', his coach made a statement, and it didn't happen."
