The Turkish Women's National Basketball Team faced Puerto Rico in their third match of Group C at the FIBA 2026 Women's Basketball World Cup. In the match played at the Max-Schmeling-Halle, the national team left the court with a 75-71 defeat and bid farewell to the tournament.
Starting the match with a balanced performance, Turkey finished the first period trailing 20-19. The crescent-and-star team asserted their dominance in the second quarter, entering halftime with a 40-37 lead. Although the national team was ahead 58-51 at the end of the third period, they were unable to maintain their scoring advantage in the final stretch.
For Turkey, Sevgi Uzun was the team's top scorer with 18 points, while Elif Bayram played with 13 points, Olcay Çakır with 10, Tilbe Şenyürek with 9, and Derin Erdoğan with 8 points.
In Puerto Rico, Arella Guirantes was the game's top scorer with 21 points. Trinity San Antonio contributed 18 points and Imani Mcgee-Stafford added 16 points to the victory.
The referee trio of Julio Anaya, Boris Krejic, and Alan Dos Santos officiated the match. Andrea Mazzon served as the head coach for Turkey, while Gerardo Batista served as the head coach for Puerto Rico.
