According to the report in Sabah Gazetesi; stating that they went through difficult times as a family during her illness, Wanda Nara said, "When we received the news, Mauro considered retiring from football; he was crying at home. My mother stayed with me for 3 months. One of my children called their aunt and cried, saying, 'My mom is dying, why aren't you telling me?' The Argentine press was very cruel during this period."

"THERE WAS NEVER ANY SEPARATION OR BETRAYAL BETWEEN US"
Making statements regarding their private lives, Nara continued as follows:
"There was never any separation or betrayal between Mauro and me. If I could, I would marry him a thousand times over. When Mauro retires from football, we will live between Milan and our country house in Ticino."
"I spend as much time as I can with my children, and I am happy that I raised them without nannies. Mauro and I have become less greedy. This summer, he could have gone to a club that would have earned him much, much more money, but we stayed in Istanbul and we are very happy there."
