Competing at the Guadalajara Open held in Mexico, Zeynep Sönmez secured a comfortable victory against Belarusian Iryna Shymanovich in the round of 32. The national tennis player defeated her opponent 2-0 to book her place in the round of 16.
Starting the match effectively, Sönmez won the first set 6-1. Maintaining her dominance in the second set, the national athlete took the set with the same score, completing the match, which lasted 1 hour and 10 minutes, without dropping a set.
Sönmez's opponent in the round of 16 will be last year's champion, Iva Jović. It was stated that the start time for the match, which will be played for a quarter-final ticket, will be announced later.
