Finland is launching a remarkable tourism campaign to promote the country's culinary culture. As part of the “Finnish Dinner Date” organization run by Visit Finland, 16 singles will be invited to Finland in February 2027 for a four-day free experience.
The program will be held in Helsinki and Tampere. The itinerary for participants includes dining experiences, city tours, outdoor activities, a sauna experience, and a group dinner with Finnish singles.

16 PEOPLE WILL VISIT TWO CITIES
The four-day trips are scheduled to take place between February 9 and 19, 2027. Of the 16 people to be selected, eight will go to the capital, Helsinki, and eight will go to Tampere, located in Finland's Lake District.

The highlight of the organization will be the group dinner. In each city, eight international participants will meet at the same table with two Finnish singles. The menus are expected to consist of special tasting options prepared by one of Finland's leading chefs.

FROM THE SINGLE BASKET TREND TO A TOURISM CAMPAIGN
One of the starting points of the campaign was the “sinkkukori” practice that has gained popularity in Finland recently. In this practice, also known as the “single basket,” single customers in some supermarkets use pink shopping baskets to show that they are open to meeting new people.
This dating habit, which spread on social media, inspired Visit Finland to take the idea beyond supermarkets. By combining the theme of romance with gastronomy, the organization aims to increase international interest in Finnish cuisine.

Although Finland has stood out among the world's happiest countries in recent years, its cuisine is not as globally recognized as that of other Nordic countries. The “Finnish Dinner Date” project stands out as a creative promotional step aimed at increasing the country's visibility in this field.
