Tragic accident in Şanlıurfa: Vehicle loses control and hits pedestrians on the sidewalk

In a traffic accident that occurred on the Akçakale highway in the Eyyübiye district of Şanlıurfa, 5 children lost their lives and 3 people were injured.

A car that lost control near the Eyyübiye Millet Bahçesi (Public Garden) struck pedestrians on the sidewalk before coming to a stop after hitting two parked vehicles.

Following the accident, two children on the sidewalk lost their lives at the scene. The 6 injured individuals were transported to various hospitals by ambulance. It was learned that 3 of the children who were taken under treatment at the hospital passed away, and one of the injured is in critical condition.

Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mehmet Kasım Gulpınar and Şanlıurfa Governor Hasan Şıldak conducted investigations at the scene. In a statement to reporters, Governor Şıldak stated that the accident occurred when a vehicle lost control for an unknown reason and struck pedestrians and parked vehicles.

Şıldak said, "Unfortunately, we have lost 5 of our citizens, and all of them are children. Two of our children lost their lives at the scene, and three of our children lost their lives in the hospital. Additionally, 3 of our citizens, including two children and one adult, were injured; one of them is in critical condition. The scene is closed to traffic, and our teams will determine the cause of the accident and those responsible," he said.

Governor Şıldak expressed his condolences to those who lost their lives in the accident, wished a speedy recovery to the injured, and called on all drivers to be careful in traffic.
