Reactions continue against the mining drilling operations being carried out in the Perşembe Plateau in Ordu's Aybastı district and the Turnalık Plateau in Korgan. Local residents and nature advocates claim that activities are continuing despite stay-of-execution rulings by the Ordu Administrative Court.

The allegation that Taşzemin Madencilik, a subsidiary of the Taşyapı Group, is continuing drilling operations in the region has brought concerns regarding water resources, pastures, and living spaces in the highlands back to the agenda. Nature advocate Musa Duman called on authorities to enforce the rulings and halt operations in the field.

Making a statement at the Taşkesur Plateau, Duman stated that drilling machines are operating in the region, saying, "A drilling machine is currently continuing to work inside the settlement. The company is turning our plateau upside down. There are three drilling machines there. One is here, inside the residential area."

Duman also drew attention to the natural and historical importance of the Perşembe Plateau. According to figures provided by the Aybastı Municipality, he said that 35 thousand tagged animals graze in the region and that hundreds of households obtain their winter food supplies from this plateau during the summer months.

"COURT RULINGS MUST BE ENFORCED"

Claiming that approximately five drilling machines are operating in the field despite the court's stay-of-execution ruling, Duman said, "We want our court and the authorities to bring this to light with an urgent decision as soon as possible. The state is strong as long as it is fair."

Duman also argued that pressure is being exerted on those who oppose mining activities. Local residents want the effects of the drilling operations on the plateau ecosystem, water resources, and pasture areas to be taken into consideration.
