Brazilian President Lula: The US has crossed an unacceptable line
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva reacted to the US attack on Venezuela, stating, "The bombings carried out on Venezuelan territory and the capture of the country's president mean that an unacceptable line has been crossed."
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva reacted to the intervention carried out by the US against Brazil's northern neighbor,Venezuela.In a statementregarding the matter on social media, Lula said,"The bombingscarriedout on Venezuelan territoryand thebombings carried out and the country's president's capture, means an unacceptable line has beencrossed. These actions represent an extremely serious attack onVenezuela's sovereignty andthe entire international communitymustand sets an extremely dangerous precedent," he stated.
Pointing out that the US attacks violate international law, Lula said, "This attack is the first step toward a worldfilled withviolence, chaos, and instability. The international community must respond to this incident through the United Nations (UN) in astrong manner. Brazil remains ready to condemn these actions and contribute to promoting the path of dialogue and cooperation," he said.
The Brazilian leader noted that the US actions are athreat to the region's peace.He also stated that it threatens the protection of the region as a zone of peace.
Colombia and Mexico also reacted
The Latin American country of Mexico and Venezuela's neighbor Colombia also reacted to the attacks. Colombian PresidentPresident Gustavo Petro announced that he is "deeply concerned" about the reports regarding the explosions in Venezuela.Petrostated, "Colombia believes that peace, respect for international law, and the protection of life and human dignity must comeaboveall formsof armed conflict."stated that he "maintains his belief in".
In a statement released by the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs,itwas stated that, "Latin America and the Caribbean are based on the principles of mutual respect, the peacefulresolutionof disputes,and the prohibition of the use of forceor threats related to it." is a peace built uponregion. Therefore, anykind of military action seriously threatens regional stabilityin agrave manner," the statement read.
