Cabinet reshuffle in Syrian regime

According to the regime's news agency SANA, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has issued a decree regarding the formation of the cabinet.

Accordingly, Mohammad Ghazi al-Jalali has become Prime Minister, replacing Hussein Arnus.

Bassam Sabbagh, who was the deputy to Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad, has been appointed to fill the vacancy left by Mekdad, while Mekdad has become Vice President to Assad.

The ministers of defense, interior, and justice have remained in their posts.

The Syrian administration held parliamentary elections on July 15 in the regions it controls within the country, where millions of people have been displaced during the civil war.
