Spanish airline Iberia has decided to expand its flight schedule due to the rising demand for the Andalusia region. The company will operate 208 additional flights between November 9 and 30, offering a total of 39 thousand 164 extra seats.
With the new planning, Iberia's capacity for the region will increase by 44 percent above the previously projected level. The extra flights will operate from Madrid to Seville, Malaga, Jerez, Granada, and Almeria.
The surge in demand is linked to disruptions in road and rail transportation following the train accident that occurred in the Urda region near Toledo. Passengers seeking alternative transportation methods have turned to air travel, increasing flight demand between Madrid and Andalusia.
Since October 28, Iberia has created a total of 61 thousand 402 additional seat capacity to respond to the growing passenger needs. The company has also decided to cap ticket prices until the end of November to ensure passengers do not face excessive prices due to high demand.
