Musk stated, "Sorry, but I can't take it anymore. This massive, exorbitant Congressional spending bill is a disgusting disgrace. Shame on those who voted for it. You know you did wrong."

US President Donald Trump, during his meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at the White House, responded to Elon Musk's criticisms of the tax cut law, stating that he had "always liked" Musk but was "disappointed" by his recent criticisms. Explaining that the removal of the electric vehicle mandate had bothered Musk, Trump said, "Musk knew this bill better than anyone, but he caused problems later."
